What Is ‘Nonnamaxxing’? The Italian grandma lifestyle might be the secret to longevity
When I moved to Italy in 2024, one of the first things I noticed was the very particular way Italian nonnas, or grandmas, live. They walk everywhere, frequently across the city, without any assistance. Many of them are dressed to the nines, but they also don’t try to hide their age.
I was then delighted – and unsurprised – when I came across a new wellness trend making the rounds on social media. “Nonnamaxxing” is the idea that anyone can maximize their life if they just embrace the habits of Italian grandmas. It happens to be sensible guidance.

Should you use AI when learning Italian?
The question of how long it takes an adult to learn a new language is not an easy one to answer. Researchers say it varies as individuals learn to speak, write, read and listen at different rates. However, most agree that people learning a foreign language are trying to do it as efficiently as possible.
As a result, there has been a boom in technology over the last decade aimed at making learning easier, and now AI advancements are taking it to the next level.
